One of the vital components of a faith community is its sharing of gifts and talents by those who live within that particular community. It is with a grateful heart that we introduce to the larger Catholic Community those who have shared there gifts and talents to provide the materials needed for the children. The children will be presented with these materials in an appropriate manner for them to work with and enter into contemplative prayer. It is our prayer that they come to discover the wonder and joy of a relationship with God. view photos

On June 13th the annual Feast of St Anthony celebration was hosted at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish with Fr.Eric Pannike, Monsignor Burns from Precious Blood Cathedral and Monsignor Amadio of St Gregory parish. Hundreds of the faithful from parishes throughout the city came together on this extremely hot evening to celebrate the life of one of its favorite saints. St. Anthony was noted for many different good works but mainly celebrated for his dedication to helping the poor. This year the focus of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was to assist the "feed the poor program" of St Vincent de Paul Society. Over $2800 was generously donated to this effort to assist the poor in our community. We thank the City Police and a large contingent of the Knights of Columbus who led our procession safely through the neighborhood streets. And most importantly Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish is extremely grateful to everyone who gave so generously to this effort. view photos

ALPHA wrapped up on Wednesday night Dec 7th 2005, with a marvelous turkey dinner, real dishes and tablecloths, and pies galore! The topic for the evening was the place of Church in our Christian life; while our discussion groups normally adjourn about 8:30 pm, people were reluctant to leave this last session because of the many close friendships made over the weeks of our program. With lots of hugs, the building finally cleared about 9:00 pm. We would like to thank the many people from our parish and beyond who poured so much love and work into this ALPHA journey. Organizers, the Hospitality Ministry, discussion group leaders and many others made it possible for the 85-90 participants to delve into our faith in an atmosphere of genuine love and fellowship. Great things will flow from this ALPHA program! The plan is to offer a Youth Alpha program in February, which will form the core of our Confirmation preparation. Keep praying for all those working so hard to deepen an awareness of the Gospel for our parishioners of all ages. And please consider joining us with a friend for our next ALPHA adventure next Fall! ........... Fr. ERIC view photos
