The first ministry to span all generations

Our parish web team held its first full team meeting a couple of weeks ago. We're fortunate to have a diverse group of people interested in helping our parish grow through online communications.

Take a look at who makes up our web team:

  • A retired high school teacher
  • A grandmother and very active parishioner who has been with the parish since it first started some 40 years ago
  • A father with teenagers who works in a local computer store
  • A single mom going to college
  • A young 30-something dad (that's me)
  • Two female and one male high schoolers

I can't ever recall seeing another ministry bring together such a diverse group of people, with half of the group under the age of 25. At least, I haven't been a part of one. For me, that's exciting!

Some of the the ways we hope to enrich our parish community are:

  1. promote and report on parish social activities, with lots of photos of course :)
  2. help programs by adding job descriptions, roles and responsibilities
  3. giving people a chance to write and submit their own stories
  4. providing more in-depth information online regarding various issues, activities
  5. helping people to get to know other people in our parish by conducting interviews and profiling them online

I'll write more about it as we move forward. Please share stories of what is happening in your parishes as well.
