GOOD NEWS TO SHARE: Identifying Catechists
"GOOD NEWS TO SHARE"
Questions for Reflection:
Of the parents who presented their children for sacraments last year, how many of these families attend church on a regular basis (weekly, monthly)?
What would our parish look like if all those families who came for sacraments became practising members of our church?
How could we as a parish more effectively use this opportunity to evangelise the parents who present their children for sacramental catechesis?
What does our community have to gain if families who bring their children for sacraments become full and conscious participants in parish life?
How could we more effectively bring parents and children to an ongoing relationship with Jesus and his church?

Generally speaking, the obligation of being a Catholic, to attend Mass on Sunday, is never mentioned in a homily or seldom emphasized, if it is at all, at any other time. The same applies to the Sacrament of Penance. Parents of today are not making it a priority and need to hear what their obligation is more often in plain English. If the parents don't go to Mass, then the children are not being brought up to go either.
